Balancing Motherhood and Diabetes: A Personal Journey

Hi, I’m Patricia—

a stay-at-home mom to four beautiful little ones, all of whom I’ve had the privilege of exclusively breastfeeding. I’m also a woman living with diabetes, doing my best to care for myself while caring for everyone else.

Motherhood is full of incredible joys. It also brings a quiet kind of exhaustion. This is especially true when balancing things like blood sugar checks, insulin doses, and middle-of-the-night feedings. I know what it’s like to feel stretched thin, to put yourself last, and to wonder how to manage your health in the middle of all the giving.

Here, I share what I’ve learned (and am still learning) about managing blood sugars, finding self-care that actually feels doable, navigating breastfeeding with diabetes, and giving ourselves grace in the process. I’m not a doctor. I’m just a mom who gets it. I want to create a space where we can feel seen. I aim for us to feel supported and a little more human.

This blog is a place for moms like us. We are navigating diabetes while nurturing tiny humans. We want to take care of our bodies without guilt. We are looking for honest, thoughtful support. I share what I’ve learned through my own journey: tips, encouragement, and gentle reminders that your needs matter too.

You’re not alone in this. You might be newly diagnosed. You could be struggling with breastfeeding and blood sugars. Perhaps you are simply trying to catch your breath. I’m so glad you’re here.
